Lonnie and Pascale spent yesterday climbing to 9,500 feet toward Mt. Carpe's ridge-line, only to be thwarted 200 feet before the ridge by dangerous rock which wouldn't allow for solid footing or to place proper protection. This would be their fifth time to try to negotiate a safe route to Carpe's summit.

With the remainder of the food, fuel, and supplies, the team will begin their long descent and ski back to Kantishna, where they were dropped off weeks ago.
